What you’ll be doing:

– Using technology to solve business problems, specifically in the context of local savings & deals content

– Working with other development team members, product owner and scrum master to estimate and deliver business impacting solution every sprint

– Development of new features and improvements, primarily in the context of savings & deals content

– Developing and enhancing continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for the team

– Designing and implementing unit and integration tests to assure the safety of your code

– Fixing bugs and refactoring code to improve Flipp internal and open source packages

– Mentoring and providing feedback for other team members

– Being on-call to support critical issues in production by responding quickly and finding solutions

Tools you will be working with:

– Ruby on Rails, with some NodeJS, Scala, and Go

– Kafka, MySql, DynamoDB, Redis

– Modern event driven microservices architecture 

– GitHub, AWS, CircleCI, Docker, Databricks, Datadog, OpGenie

What you’ll bring:

– 5+ years of back-end development experience.

– Track record of shipping quality code and delivering high quality products

– High growth expectations for yourself and your team, and a willingness to push yourself and your team to achieve them

– Experience solving problems using XPath, WebDev tools, APIs, HTTP/1.1 & HTTP/2, JSON

– A willingness to share insights and mistakes and receive feedback

– A strong sense of empathy and awareness

– Can excel individually and collaboratively with a team

– An ability to process tough problems

– Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts and points to non-technical people

– Bachelor’s degree Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
